About the Program

It's My Move works to improve successful outcomes for foster care youth by providing them with a supporting and empowering environment to make their first decisions about adult life.

It's My Move is a program of Stepping Stones, Inc. that provides youth ages 16-21 years of age the skills they need to be successful in independent living.

These include:

  • An innovative step-up approach to youth housing that begins with 24/7 supervision near the residential facility, moving to supported apartment living in the community with daily supervision and ending with independent apartment living through the Chafee Transitional Living program.
  • Have real-life living experiences with the support of trusted advisors.
  • Linkages to community resources, job services and educational opportunities.
  • Skills development for employment, education and daily life.
  • Supportive group counseling, relapse and safety planning.
  • Ongoing screenings and assessment.

It's My Move is aligned with sound, cutting-edge research principles that encourage the development of youth assets and resiliency. The program empowers youth to manage their own life and feel in control of their own destiny. This gradual, intensive approach to transition ensures that youth are able to continue to make responsible decisions that lead to personal success.
